I have been in my new home since November 27. I am renting the main floor of a house in the Bonnie Doon area of Edmonton, Alberta.
The boys are loving it. We have boxes in the living area, where the living room/dining space/studio space are. They love boxes as most cats do so they are exploring the boxes and the rest of our home. There is a basement suite with another tenant in it. My landlord lives in Surrey, B.C., he is a very decent fellow.
Today is my weekly home time to work in my studio and around the home.
I invite you to mark on your calendar Saturday December 21 from 1-4 pm for my first Winter Solstice Open House. We will take time to hear the story of Winter Solstice then at 4pm call the Sun to come back, I will then light my winter Solstice candles to encourage the sun to come back as well to provide extra light for the very long night ahead of us.
As we come to a New Year let’s Every year, 762 young Canadians commit suicide — the equivalent of an entire high school. Most who die by suicide or attempt suicide face mental health challenges.
We can’t ignore kids at risk of suicide. Tell the Canadian government we need to get kids the help they need to prevent suicides.
Today, only 25% of children and youth with a mental health problem or illness will receive treatment. Those who need mental health care are often unable to access such services unless their families have the resources to pay for the services privately.
We need Canadians to speak out and tell the government to take action for kids with mental illness whose families cannot afford treatment on their own. Our young people deserve it.
Canada is at the point where suicide can no longer be ignored. There are 762 deaths by suicide by young Canadians every year.

Topless women aren’t allowed on Facebook. But bodiless heads now are.
Facebook is no longer removing videos or images of people being beheaded, even as they continue to ban women for posting pictures of them breastfeeding. But what’s going to scar you more — seeing a woman’s breast or seeing someone butchered before your eyes?
This move isn’t just stupid from a PR standpoint — it’s also horrifically irresponsible, giving access to this traumatic footage to anyone with a Facebook account. Please join us in urging Facebook to reverse its policy and ban photos and video of beheadings now.
PETITION TO FACEBOOK: News sites already spread the word about the horrors of mass beheadings. Posting photos and images of beheadings will only scar kids and exploit these people’s deaths — please resume the ban against them now.

With Halloween just around the corner, Conservative MP Rob Anders unleashed a scary story in the House of Commons this week.
And while private members statements — those speeches MPs give before the excitement of question period — don’t often get a lot of press, Anders’ rant is… something else.
He claimed New Democrats, whom he called “socialist bloodsuckers,” want to institute a $21-billion carbon tax and “impale” Albertans with a gas hike tax of 10 cents a litre.
Then he took a thinly veiled shot at Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau.
“There is this evil Liberal name that haunts us still and wants to hand out drugs to our kids,” he said.
Anders is seemingly referring to Trudeau’s support for the legalization of marijuana. Trudeau maintains that controlling, taxing and regulating the substance will actually help keep it out of the hands of children.
Then Anders turned to New Democrats.
“This ghost of the NDP wants to acquire heroin with taxpayer money and inject it into the veins of Canada’s children,” he said.
The controversial Conservative may have been referring to a recently closed “loophole” at Health Canada that allowed certain drugs, like heroin and cocaine, to be obtained for patients in exceptional circumstances under a federal special access program.
Conservatives brought forward new regulations to stop the practice earlier this month.
Tories have since fundraised on the issue, saying the NDP and Liberals would make the program permanent if elected in 2015.
“I feel like this is a government that is abandoning any notion of public policy divisions, based on real evidence and expert advice,” she said. “Everything they do is wrapped in a partisan ideological message.”
Davies has said medicalized heroin maintenance has been used successfully and is part of treatment in places like Europe.
“It’s another example of the Conservative government ignoring sound public policy, driven by expert advice, and instead making decisions based on political dogma,” she said.
But Anders’ speech wasn’t all doom and gloom. He ended on a high note by speaking about something he doesn’t find scary — the Harper government’s trade agreement with the European Union.

|Help Stop Child Slavery|
Unless we speak up against products that are made with forced child labor, companies will continue to operate as is, turning a blind eye to child slavery in favor of a larger profit margin. Will you help us get the message through to Warner Bros. by asking your friends to sign the petition too?
Instead of going to school, some children are working long hours in cocoa bean fields. They are punished with beatings if quotas aren’t met. We can prevent them from having to suffer from these abuses.
By taking a stand against modern slavery, Warner Bros. will protect these children as well as set a precedent for other companies. That’s why it’s crucial that you send an email to your friends and family, share the petition on Facebook, and send this tweet to ask your network to support the cause.
Here’s a quick message you can copy and send to rally support:
Even today, companies throughout the world still rely on child labor to make cheaper products. Behr’s Chocolates, the chocolate supplier for Harry Potter’s famous Chocolate Frogs, could be one of them. Warner Bros. continues to use this supplier even though it has taken virtually no action to ensure its production is slavery-free. Thousands of children are forced to work – and often beaten – in cocoa bean fields. That’s why it’s so crucial that we let Warner Bros. know that chocolate made with child labor is just not acceptable.
Tens of thousands of people have already asked Warner Bros. to ensure that its chocolate is slavery-free. We need to keep this momentum going, or Warner Bros. will continue to turn a blind eye to child labor. That’s why I signed this petition to support slavery-free chocolates, and I’m hoping you will too. Here’s the link:
