In Canada, you can’t buy cigarettes until you are 18 years old because they pose such a huge health risk. But while we protect teens from cancer-causing tobacco, in Ontario cancer-causing indoor tanning has no such restrictions in place.

Many tanning services in Ontario are more than happy to cater to kids younger than 18, despite the huge health risks indoor tanning poses, including melanoma skin cancer.

Melanoma skin cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer for youth between the ages of 15-29. It’s on the rise, but it is preventable.

British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, PEI and Quebec have all passed legislation protecting youth from the dangers of indoor tanning. It’s time for Ontario to follow suit.

Take a stand against skin cancer today: Call on the Ontario legislature to pass the Skin Cancer Prevention Act and prohibit the use of tanning services by youth under 18!
